Over the past 15 years, Ba Na Hills has become widely known for its комплекс of tourism developments, earning the title of ‘Vietnam’s Leading Tourist Resort’ from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism for four consecutive years from 2014 to 2017.

Ba Na enjoys a cool climate all year round, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 17 to 20°C. It is also known as a temperate zone within a tropical forest, as visitors can experience the atmosphere of all four seasons in a single day.

Transportation

The following transport options and directions will take you to the cable car station. To continue to the top of Ba Na Hills, visitors must purchase a cable car ticket. Since 2018, Da Nang City has suspended the road route to Ba Na due to safety concerns; it is now reserved only for purposes such as forest protection, cultivation, maintenance, and fire prevention.

Bus

From Da Nang Airport, visitors can take Bus Route No. 3 to Ba Na Hills, covering a distance of 25 km. Ticket price: 30,000 VND, with a frequency of every 15 to 30 minutes. Operating hours are from 5:30 AM to 7:00 PM daily.

Three other bus routes within the city also go to Ba Na:

  • Route No. 9 (Oncology Hospital – Pham Hung)
  • Route No. 13 (Oncology Hospital – Viet Han University)
  • Route No. 14 (Han River Port – High-Tech Park)

Ticket prices range from 8,000 to 30,000 VND per trip.

Ba Na Hills – Bus

Taxi

A 5-seater taxi from Da Nang city center to the Ba Na cable car station typically costs between 350,000 and 400,000 VND per trip. Popular taxi companies include Vinasun, Tien Sa, and Mai Linh. Visitors can also choose ride-hailing services. Taxis are most suitable for groups of 3–4 people.

Self-Drive Car

Self-drive car rentals start from around 800,000 VND per day. This option is recommended if you plan to visit Ba Na for a half-day while also traveling to other locations in the city and nearby areas.

Shared Car / Shuttle Service

On travel forums and social media groups about Da Nang, there is plenty of information for finding travel companions on long routes. Visitors can also find fellow travelers at the airport or popular tourist spots. From Da Nang city center, shared car services typically cost around 150,000 VND per person per trip to Ba Na.

Other means of transport include motorbikes and bicycles. Visitors can park their vehicles at the parking area near the cable car station.

Cable Car and Tickets

The cable car operates from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Visitors traveling to the top of Ba Na by cable car have several options. Round-trip ticket prices are as follows:

Bà Nà Hills – Cable Car

Cable car ticket: 950,000 VND (adults) – 750,000 VND for children (1–1.4 m tall) and visitors over 70 years old. For Da Nang residents, the prices are 600,000 VND and 500,000 VND respectively.

Cable car + lunch buffet combo: 1.4 million VND (adults) – 950,000 VND for children (1–1.4 m tall) and visitors over 70 years old. For Da Nang residents, the prices are 950,000 VND and 700,000 VND respectively.

Night cable car combo (3:00 PM – 10:00 PM): Ticket prices range from 500,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND depending on the time. With the night combo, visitors can also choose additional services such as transportation, dining, and accommodation packages.

Cable car tickets include free access to games at Fantasy Park, as well as visits to the Golden Bridge, flower gardens, and Moon Castle. Visitors should note that there are separate ticket counters for individual travelers and tour groups/travel agencies.

Golden Bridge

Golden Bridge is a must-visit attraction. Located at an altitude of 1,414 meters above sea level, the bridge is likened to a golden silk ribbon stretching across the mountainside. It is also one of the best spots in Ba Na for cloud hunting. Since its construction, the Golden Bridge has frequently appeared in both domestic and international media. In 2021, it was named one of the “Top 10 New Wonders of the World” by The Daily Mail.

The Golden Bridge is usually crowded during the daytime. For quieter photos, visitors should come early in the morning or stay overnight at Ba Na.

French Village

In the French Village, take your time to explore every corner. The squares, town areas, villages, and hotels are all built in classic French architectural style. Here, you will find a moss-covered fountain, the statue of Auberon – the king of the fairies, and a pathway featuring giant book models inspired by famous works such as The Little Prince and The Old Man and the Sea, decorated with greenery and flowers.

St. Denis Church

If you enjoy Gothic architecture and European culture, or were once fascinated by The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, you should visit St. Denis Church located in the center of Hoi Tu Square. The structure features vintage stained-glass windows, high vaulted ceilings, and gargoyle sculptures—mythical guardians of churches in Western culture.

Sun God Waterfall

This is one of the most popular check-in spots at Ba Na Hills. The area is a complex of 43 statues themed around Greek mythology, many of which are recreations of works preserved in major museums around the world, including figures such as Apollo (god of light), Venus (goddess of love), and Athena (goddess of war).

Moon Castle

The castle features classic European-style architecture, appearing mysteriously amidst the clouds and taking visitors on a journey to a magical land, with many immersive experiences inspired by the European Renaissance. The structure has a total floor area of 38,000 m² and includes four themed levels: Dragon Cave, Power Wolf, Owl Wisdom, and Moon Square. It also houses a 2,000-seat theater showcasing many famous performances.

Eclipse Square

This area connects the vibrant Sun Kingdom and the mystical Moon Kingdom. Visitors walk through arched corridors decorated with imagery inspired by European Renaissance art, along with a green glass spire in the center of the square, resembling a miniature version of the Louvre. Spanning over 60,000 m², the square offers a full range of experiences including architecture, art, nature, landscapes, cuisine, and lively activities, divided into three main zones: the square, retail area, and restaurants.

Fantasy Park

This 21,000 m² indoor entertainment complex offers fun for all ages. The Dinosaur Park is a must-visit for fans of the Jurassic Park series. It also features Vietnam’s first wax museum, displaying lifelike figures of world-famous celebrities. Thrill rides include the free-fall tower, bumper cars, and the Skiver pilot attraction.

Over 100-Year-Old Wine Cellar

The Debay Wine Cellar, named after the French captain who discovered Ba Na, was built in 1923. It stores various types of wine, most of which were brought from France.

Unlike typical European wine cellars that are built underground, the Ba Na wine cellar is carved into the mountain. It is about 100 meters long, 2.5 meters high, and 2 meters wide. The walls are made of mountain stone, with an arched ceiling. The temperature inside ranges from 16 to 20°C. Currently, the cellar has 14 wine niches, containing wines owned by villa and hotel proprietors in Ba Na. Entrance tickets start from 100,000 VND per adult.

Spiritual Sites

Ba Na’s summit is home to several spiritual landmarks, including Ba Shrine, Linh Ung Pagoda, Linh Phong Stupa, and Linh Phong Zen Monastery.

Linh Ung Pagoda is located at an altitude of nearly 1,500 meters above sea level. In front of the pagoda stands a three-needle pine tree—an endangered species listed in Vietnam’s Red Book. The Linh Phong Stupa has nine levels, each with four sides featuring white stone statues of Shakyamuni Buddha facing the four directions, surrounded by statues of the Four Heavenly Kings. Four bronze bells hang at the corners of each level, symbolizing sacred echoes. Linh Phong Zen Monastery represents traditional Northern Vietnamese pagoda architecture, built with ironwood and covering an area of 650 m². The temple grounds are arranged with two side corridors (left and right wings), featuring Buddha statues and 18 Arhats guarding the area.

During a day at Ba Na, visitors can immerse themselves in vibrant artistic performances and enjoy exciting moments presented by international performers and artists. From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, shows take place at locations such as Le Jardin D’Amour Flower Garden, Hoi Tu Square, the church, French Village, and Beer Plaza.

At Ba Na Hills, visitors will find a system of around 30 restaurants located in three main areas: the French Village, Du Dome Square, and Le Jardin Flower Garden, offering both Asian and European cuisine. Guests can choose between buffet dining or à la carte options.

A food tour is a great way to fully experience the culinary highlights. Notable spots include Anh Tuyet Artisan Restaurant for traditional Vietnamese dishes; Kavkaz Restaurant for Russian-style grilled lamb; Brasserie Restaurant for pizza, pasta, spaghetti, and Italian cuisine; and Thai Market for Thai food lovers. For those who enjoy freshly hand-pulled noodles with authentic Chinese flavors, Kungfu Noodle Restaurant is a great choice.

The only hotel at the top of Ba Na Hills is the Mercure Danang Ba Na Hills, designed like a fairytale castle. All 494 rooms feature windows overlooking either the French Village or the panoramic views of Ba Na Mountain. Hotel facilities include a spa, gym, indoor swimming pool, bar, retail shops, and a bakery.

Room rates start from around 2.5 million VND per night.

Ba Na at Night

Most visitors explore Ba Na during the day, but staying overnight offers many additional experiences. Guests can admire both sunset and sunrise from the mountaintop, and enjoy a unique panoramic view of Da Nang City from a different perspective.

In the evening, those who enjoy a lively atmosphere can head to Beer Plaza, featuring German beer and energetic dance performances by European dancers. For those who prefer a quieter experience, a peaceful stroll through the cool, slightly chilly air along stone-paved paths between castle-like buildings is a perfect choice.

Staying Overnight at Ba Na

By staying overnight at Ba Na, visitors have the opportunity to be among the first to check in at the Golden Bridge at sunrise, when it is peaceful and uncrowded. During the time slots of 6:00–6:05 AM, 6:30–6:35 AM, and 7:00–7:05 AM, the cable car operates for guests to travel from Louvre Station to Bordeaux Station (from the summit down to the Golden Bridge to catch the sunrise).

Notes

  • Appropriate clothing is recommended, as temperatures at Ba Na change quickly, with significant differences between morning and evening.
  • Ba Na cable car tickets are valid for one day only.
  • Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the tourist area.
  • Visitors should plan their time wisely, as exploring all of Ba Na Hills requires at least 6 hours.
  • When participating in games at Fantasy Park, visitors must comply with height regulations.

  • Getting there: Located about 30 km from Da Nang city center, accessible by taxi, Grab, or shuttle services.
