If you love the cherry blossoms of Japan, you don’t have to travel far—you can visit Da Lat and immerse yourself among its beautiful cherry blossom trees.
Right on schedule each year, from mid-December to January, the delicate and graceful cherry blossoms bloom throughout the city of Da Lat in Lam Dong.
As every year, streets such as Tran Hung Dao Street, Hung Vuong Street, Co Giang Street, Pho Duc Chinh Street, and Nam Ho Street burst into vibrant color. The blossoms also flourish along the suburban areas, especially along National Highway 20 from Da Lat to Cau Dat, and along National Highway 27C, creating a breathtaking scene.
The vibrant beauty of cherry blossoms in full bloom adds a striking highlight to the city’s sloping roads. According to observations on the morning of December 30, most places where the blossoms are blooming have quickly become popular check-in spots for visitors.
The dreamy beauty of cherry blossoms is both gentle like the spirit of spring and pure, shy, like a young woman in her twenties. Bich Ngoc (20, from Quang Nam) shared: ‘The flowers are beautiful and romantic, full of the vitality of spring. Anyone who has seen the cherry blossoms bloom even a few times will fall in love with them just like I did. Pack your backpack and head to Da Lat, everyone.
According to statistics from the authorities of Da Lat, the city currently has more than 7,000 cherry blossom trees that have reached blooming age, planted along several streets and in residential areas. Tourist sites in the area also have over 200 hectares of cherry blossom trees, as investors are required to commit to planting them at a regulated ratio compared to the land allocated for their projects.
Even the smaller cherry blossom trees in full bloom attract visitors who come to admire them and capture beautiful photos as keepsakes.
Many visitors believe that although the cherry blossoms in Da Lat are beautiful and captivating, they have not yet been planted in sufficient numbers to create a truly mesmerizing landscape. Most of the cherry blossom trees are planted spontaneously, and there are still few well-planned or coordinated flower-lined streets along the city’s slopes and pathways.
‘If Da Lat developed its cherry blossom landscape more comprehensively, we wouldn’t need to travel all the way to South Korea or Japan just to see cherry blossoms,’ said visitor Hoang Cong Minh (53, from Ho Chi Minh City).
The delicate beauty of cherry blossoms stands out in the chilly 14–16°C weather of the mountain city of Da Lat. As the blooming season lasts only about a month, many visitors hurry to travel to Da Lat as soon as they hear the news to admire the flowers.
According to the experience of many visitors, the best time to take photos with cherry blossoms is early in the morning (6:30–8:00 AM) and before sunset (3:00–5:30 PM), when the sunlight is gentle and slants across the scene, highlighting the vibrant colors of the blossoms.
