From Hanoi, you can choose open tour buses operated by Hưng Thành, Hưng Long, Hoàng Long, Mai Linh… or other buses on the Hanoi–Quang Binh route departing at 6:00 PM. You will arrive in Dong Hoi (Quang Binh) at 4:00 AM the next morning.

If you are traveling from Ho Chi Minh City, you can take buses to Dong Hoi departing from Mien Dong Bus Station, or open tour buses by Hoàng Long or Mai Linh at the same departure time. You will arrive in Dong Hoi at 10:00 PM. Most hotels in Dong Hoi close fairly early, so if you choose a tour bus, it is recommended to book your hotel in advance and schedule your arrival time. From Hanoi:

The Thong Nhat (Reunification) Express Trains from Hanoi to Saigon all stop at Dong Hoi. Ticket prices range from around VND 272,000 (for SE1 soft seat with air-conditioning) up to VND 407,000 (highest – for a 4-bed soft sleeper, 1st floor, air-conditioned, SE7 train).

The Reunification Express trains from Saigon to Hanoi stop daily at Dong Hoi, including SE2, SE4, SE6, SE8, and TN2.

Phong Nha – Ke Bang is located in Bo Trach District, about 50 km northwest of Dong Hoi City. Most transportation options only take you to the center of Dong Hoi. To get from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha, you can take a taxi, motorbike taxi (xe ôm), or Dong Hoi bus to Bo Trach for VND 20,000, then take a motorbike taxi up to Phong Nha.

Motorbike Rental: You can contact Mr. Tung at 0978.211.325 for motorbike rental services. He can deliver the bike anywhere in Dong Hoi. Riding a motorbike is very convenient; however, the distance is quite long and some roads are isolated. If your bike breaks down, it can be very inconvenient. Please take note to ensure your health and safety during the trip.

Honda Motorbike Taxi (Xe Ôm): They are parked all over the city and can take you anywhere. Prices are negotiable, so make sure to ask before your ride.
